The Society commissioned member Greta George to
create a quilt to be used as a fundraiser for 2007.  It
features thirty-five squares of antique postcard photo
scenes from the villages of Bartlett.  The queen-size
quilt has yellow squares with borders of green and
beige.  The squares contain such landmarks as Harmony
Acres, Cave Mountain, The Howard, Sawyer’s Rock, Hart’
s Ledge, Storyland, the Bartlett Village and Glen railroad
stations and many more scenes.

The drawing for the quilt, which Greta calls “Days
before Yesterday,” was held by the Society on
November 24 at the Josiah Bartlett Elementary School
craft fair.  The proceeds of this raffle assisted funding of
the many projects and activities scheduled for 2007.

The Annual Meeting of the Bartlett Historical Society
was held on Wednesday, January 18, 2008 at the home
of Norman and Kathleen Head.  Society members
gathered to conduct the following business: elect
officers; approve a budget for 2008; amend the
constitution and by-laws; hear of projects and plans for
2008; and to enjoy a pleasant pot-luck social.  The 2008
Board of Directors is Bert George, President; Norman
Head, Vice-president; Marcia Dolley, Secretary;
Hannalore Chandler, Treasurer; and Debbie Gilmore,
Board member.

This year the Historical Society will be hosting the 2008
Bartlett School Reunion, which will be held in August.
The size and scope of this project is immense, and
attests to the commitment of our members.  The BHS
Reunion Committee, under the direction of Norman
Head, met frequently throughout 2007 and will, no
doubt, meet even more frequently during 2008 as they
finalize the details of the reunion, which will be held on
August, 22, 23 and 24, 2008. The committee has spent
several months searching for names and addresses of
those who attended schools in Lower Bartlett, Glen and
Bartlett Village through the years.  Compiling this list is a
huge undertaking, and it will require the help of families
and friends still residing in this area to make it as
complete as possible.  We urge anyone who believes
that we may not have the current address of friends,
classmates or family members, to contact us by e-mail us
at reunion@bartletthistory.org or by phoning Norman
Head at (603) 986-6278 or Marcia Dolley at (603) 367-9278.
