2012

Here is the list of what is planned for  2012:

July 17, 2012
Saving the Mountains: NH & the Creation of the National Forests In 2011, New Hampshire and the nation celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Weeks Act, the law that created the east-ern national forests. New Hampshire’s White Mountains played a leading role in events leading to that act. This and other related programs were held in the area in 2011, but there were many people who did not get the opportunity then to attend, so we offer them a second chance. Marcia Schmidt Blaine of Plymouth State University and the New Hampshire Humanities Council will explore the relationship between our mountains and the individuals who worked to protect them. Time: 7:00 p.m. Location: Eastern Slope Inn No. Conway Bonus: Pizza night at Flatbreads; a portion of the price of each pizza purchased will be donated to the Bartlett Historical Society.
October 17, 2012
Winter Birding by Dave Govatski
This talk will focus on how to set up a bird feeding station at your home using both feeders and native plants around the yard and which feeders work best for different kinds of birds. Questions such as where is the best place to put feeders will be answered. Dave will also provide a winter finch forecast and make a prediction on which interesting bird visitors from the far north will come down to our area. Bring your favorite bird feeder and tell us why you like it and what works best for you. This entertaining presentation will get you all set up for your feathered friends.
